Middle Dyad Deity Era – The Dyad Deity War and the Sealing of the “Destruction Deity Gyze”

    中村聡

    ◆The Dragon Deity of Destruction

The trigger of despair was pulled by a young Demonic Lord from the Dark Zone.

It is an epoch bedecked with the flourishing grace of “Magic”, a boon bestowed by the Genesis Deity Messiah. Within the Dark Zone – a domain pulsating with the highest concentrations of arcane might – a power struggle took place among those most gifted with mana known as Demonic Lords.

Among them was Gastille, a young Demonic Lord swathed in ambition’s tempest. In his pursuit of overwhelming power and through research upon research, he stumbled upon a profound truth. With the blessing of magic, the Genesis Deity Messiah had not only sown the seeds of hope in the world but also those of despair. In other words, in order to rewrite the laws of the world, the Genesis Deity Messiah had warped reality and brought to the forefront a Void of unprecedented magnitude.

“It” harbored boundless power, easily surpassing even the Genesis Deity Messiah, which was said to be equivalent to the world. “It” beckoned Gastille, this devastating force. Power was everything. As a Demonic Lord, as one who endlessly sought the pinnacle of might, Gastille resolved to summon “It”. If the world were to meet its demise as a result… What absolute splendor. A trivial price to pay for such immense power.

To the misfortune of all, Gastille was a genius. Adopting the mantle of Evil God Bishop, he succeeded in summoning “It”. And thus, the advent of the Destruction Deity Gyze, the antithesis to the Genesis Deity Messiah, was set in motion at Gastille’s hand.

    ◆The Apostles of Gyze

As Gyze stirred, there was a hero who sensed its awakening and set to confront it before all others. Valeos, the first Marshal of Aqua Force – a guardian of the seas and draped in the manner of absolute justice – faced off against Gyze, and met with defeat.

Valeos was a luminary hero, a soul of unmatched prowess. Alas, it was also his exceptional abilities that led him to “completely understand” Gyze. The Destruction Deity Gyze was the incarnation of the Void, harboring infinite power and potential. It was immutable that the world birthed from the Void and to the Void would return. If so, then the cataclysm Gyze sought to bring upon the world was, indeed, “absolute justice”. Henceforth, Valeos pledged allegiance to Gyze.

In stark contrast, another dominant figure held beliefs that directly opposed to that of Valeos—Gredora, leader of the criminal syndicate Megacolony. She saw Gyze as a convenient entity to help expand the territories of “her precious children”. If the world were to succumb, then she only had to fill the vacant lands with her offsprings.

Empowered by Gastille, Valeos, and Gredora, the Destruction Deity Gyze embarked on the annihilation of the world. By infusing their own power as a deity into Cray Elementals, Gyze created what could be considered their avatars—six Zeroth Dragons, the living embodiments of calamity.

    ◆The Immortal Holy Sword

This maelstrom of war, later christened the “Dyad Deity War”, unfurled with one-sided devastation. Gyze’s forces and the Zeroth Dragons wreaked havoc akin to natural disasters worldwide. Nations staked their honor and attempted resistance but were met with failure. Towns, villages, and even small states lay in the wake of desolation as despair washed across the regions and clutched at the populace.

At this time, there was a lone knight by the name of Fides in the Sanctuary Region. Even as he took to the frontlines to protect the masses, he was weighed down by his own powerlessness in the face of thorough ruin. One day, a sage named Zenon appeared before him (※). Guided by Zenon and by overcoming the trials presented to him, Fides eventually attained a holy sword from deep within the sanctuary that no other before him had been able to extract.

(※) Sage of Guidance, Zenon: A sage that appears thereafter throughout history to guide the hero of that era.

Harnessing the power of the holy sword to safeguard his brethren, Fides drew valorous knights across borders. These defenders eventually became known as “Royal Paladin”, a beacon of hope amidst the turmoil. Simultaneously, there was another active faction that transcended borders. Angels devoted to healing the wounded and the suffering all over the world made up this other group. Heedless of the perils on the battlefield, they eventually evolved into the medical clan known as “Angel Feather”.

The endeavors of these two clans kindled the flickering embers of hope among the beleaguered souls of the Sanctuary Region. Forces rose one by one against Gyze’s apostles and the Zeroth Dragons, their actions spreading worldwide. And the world, on the brink of annihilation, found its resolve and began to resist.

    ◆The Sealing of Deities

People’s desperate, valiant resistance led to a stalemate in the conflict, and the Dyad Deity War extended across the eons. During this tenure, research on combating Gyze’s forces was conducted worldwide, leading to a seismic evolution in magical technology on the military front.

With the aid of the blessings bestowed by Messiah, nations and clans emerged as a united front. They braved Gyze’s forces as one, culminating in the final showdown where Messiah’s coalition emerged victorious. However, Gyze’s power was incomparable, and complete annihilation proved impossible. Thus, Messiah diverted most of their divine power into sealing away Gyze’s forces in various forms.

Firstly, Aqua Force, the core of Gyze’s army, was sealed within the confines of spacetime. Then, the six Zeroth Dragons, Gyze’s avatars, were recorded to have been sealed away by Fides; he transferred them to the “Convergence of Worlds” alongside himself in order to sever their connection to Gyze. Lastly, Gyze’s body was sealed by Messiah themselves in the southern pole of Planet Cray. It’s worth noting that the whereabouts of Gyze’s three apostles remain unknown, and no records exist after the war’s conclusion.

The repercussions of Messiah’s intervention resonated resoundingly. The distance between the two converging worlds narrowed further, entwining their destinies even more intricately. And Messiah, having depleted a significant portion of its celestial might, lapsed into a prolonged state of dormancy. This marked the conclusion of the protracted chaos known as the Dyad Deity War.

For those who’ve read this far, it’s not hard to imagine what sort of ramifications the deities’ slumber had on the world. The next chapter will elucidate the state of the Late Dyad Deity Era, where these consequences become apparent.
