Introduction

The Revengers are an elite taskforce of Shadow Paladin, working behind the scenes to ensure the stability of United Sanctuary. Introduced in Trial Deck 10: Purgatory Revenger, they have been a mainstay throughout the game’s history. “Illusionary Revenger, Mordred Phantom” proved to be a powerful Break Ride of its time, and the original “Revenger, Raging Form Dragon” as well for its reride combo.

Over time, this archetype has received a variety of support, from Legion, to Strides, and even a reimagining during the V era! In the Premium format, the introduction of the V era “Revenger, Raging Form Dragon” allowed the deck to rise to prominence once more. As a step up over its predecessor, it allowed for more flexibility in ride targets for its combo, ensured greater consistency in achieving multiple rerides, and had Force marker generation to scale its Power! It also had immediate synergy with the existing card pool of Revengers in Premium!

Now, we’re introducing a new twist into the Revenger archetype with the release of the Revenger Premium Deckset: an updated Stride with a new crest! The deck is still combo-centric, with the main plays revolving around multiple vanguard attacks. With the new tools, the deck spikes in pressure as soon as your grade 3 ride up turn! Let’s take a look at the core aspects of the deck that makes it a powerhouse.

Grade 3s

Revenger, Raging Form Dragon, Revenger, Slay Hex Dragon and Revenger, Raging Fall Dragon “Яeverse”

The original “Revenger, Raging Form Dragon” returns to the Revenger deck with a vengeance! The main reason for utilizing this version of Raging Form is to make use of its Crest generated by “True Revenger, Raging Rapt Dragon” when Striding. Aside from this, Raging Form’s Limit Break ability retires three Revenger allies after attacking to reride a copy of itself from hand and empower that unit! It also Counter-Blasts 1 when attacking to gain additional Power.

To consistently ensure that we can ride into the original Raging Form on our grade 3 ride up turn, there is “Revenger, Slay Hex Dragon”! When riding from a Revenger unit, Slay Hex rides Raging Form from deck and adds itself back to hand! Not only does it fix your grade 3 ride, it can also be an extender for your V Raging Form combo plays, finding your extra copies in deck to continue the chain of rerides! It also has the <Abyss Dragon> race, so it can be discarded after being returned to hand for Raging Rapt’s ability cost!

A great finisher for the deck is “Revenger, Raging Fall Dragon “Яeverse””! Raging Fall’s first ability locks your Revenger allies in the main phase to empower three Revenger units! (ideally your front row.) The number of cards locked is crucial for its second ability: after attacking, it Counter-Blasts 3 and discards three cards from hand to lock up to two Stand rear-guards! This cost is reduced by Counter-Blast 1 for each of your locked cards. If you have two or more locked cards or five cards in your damage zone, Raging Fall Stands again! Together with your empowered front row, you can effectively end the game with four devastating attacks against an opponent with diminished defenses!

Dark Armor Revenger, Rinnal, Self-Control Revenger, Rakia and Detecting Revenger, Aife

The grade 1 lineup of the deck mostly helps in the consistency of finding your Revenger pieces. When its attack or the attack it boosted hits, “Dark Armor Revenger, Rinnal” adds a Revenger from the top three cards of your deck to hand. If you can swarm the board with copies of Rinnal early, your opponent will be forced to guard more of your attacks to prevent you from easily gaining card advantage. When retired by your card ability, Rinnal also forces your opponent to retire one of their allies! There’s also “Detecting Revenger, Alfe which is used to add copies of Raging Form from deck to hand. While Alfe is limited to searching the top five cards of your deck, it can be used earlier in the game, and grants Power to another ally should its effect fail.

Even though it does not add key Revenger pieces to hand, “Self-Control Revenger, Rakia” is still an important piece that generates card advantage easily! When your grade 3 Revenger rides over your grade 2 unit while Rakia is in soul, it calls a grade 1 Revenger from deck to the field as Rest! Additionally, Rakia Soul-Blasts 2 in the main phase to call a grade 2 Revenger like Mana or Darkbless Angel from drop to the field! This card easily sets up your board for your combo plays without expending heavy resources!

Grim Revenger, Emancipating Revenger, Allyl, Dark Shield, Mac Lir and Belial Owl

Despite not having any abilities, “Grim Revenger” is a must-have in the deck due to its Revenger name – after all, it’s another target for extension plays. In the same vein, we’re opting to run a 2-2 split between Shadow Paladin’s Heal Guardian and “Emancipating Revenger, Allyl”. Aside from its Revenger name, it also can provide crucial Counter-Charge or Soul-Charge for future combo plays!

Outside of Elementaria Sanctitude, it’s possible to consider running different combinations of trigger sentinels! The Draw trigger Perfect Guards have always been favored due to the consistency and reliable protection that they provide; however, Critical Sentinels can also be considered to increase the deck’s Critical count for greater kill pressure!

The new and improved “True Revenger, Raging Rapt Dragon” unleashes its dominance on the battlefield! If your vanguard is the original Raging Form, and you did not generate Imaginary Gifts this fight, Raging Rapt can be Stride during the main phase! Then, you can turn a Revenger card in your G zone face up to get two Force markers and the crest for “Revenger, Raging Form Dragon”!

This crest sets the base Power of your vanguard with the Limit Break ability to 13 000, and allows for Limit Break abilities to be activated even when your damage count is three or less! Additionally, if your heart is “Revenger, Raging Form Dragon” with Limit Break, it changes the cost of Raging Rapt’s Limit Break ability to retire three Revenger rear-guards instead!

After attacking, Raging Rapt’s Limit Break ability Counter-Blasts 1 and Soul-Blasts 1, retiring two rear-guards and discarding two grade 3 in hand to superior Stride a copy of itself from your G zone! This is effectively a Stride version of Raging Form Dragon’s reride combo. With the superior Stride on your grade 3 ride up turn and the alternate ability cost, Raging Rapt’s offense just gets deadlier!

After using Raging Rapt as your first Stride, you can go into “Dark Dragon, Chainrancor Dragon” for subsequent turns! This Stride inherits your heart’s abilities, allowing you to utilize your V series vanguards’ impactful abilities! When your opponent would guard from hand, Chainrancor also forces them to guard with three or more cards from hand if you have three or more grade 1 or less units on the field!

Lastly, “Dark Knight, Crow Cruach” is an alternative Stride option for the deck. It’s mainly used as a restanding vanguard that doesn’t lose drives! In situations where you don’t have ways to ensure a full Raging Form combo turn, Crow Cruach offers lower pressure but more card advantage. It also has retire costs for its ability, synergizing with Darkbless Angel and Rinnal!

Link Joker: The Lock mechanic can easily neuter the effectiveness of the deck, as it prevents you from filling your board with Revengers to retire. You can mitigate this with Raging Fall, as its restand becoming less Counter-Blast intensive with more locked cards on the board. The best way to deal with this is to utilize Bracing Angel Ladder to prevent your allies from being locked out, though it would mean an even higher grade 3 count.

Granblue: This deck has always relied on its player having a high skill cap to optimally utilize the many tools of the deck; in the right hands, Granblue players can effectively counter Revengers with a variety of measures. Thanks to the great synergy between “Great Witch Doctor of Banquets, Negrolily” and “Ghostie Leader, Beatrice”, it has allowed for a mid battle phase interactions with “Skeleton Cannoneer” to retire Revenger rear-guards, or “Mick the Ghostie and Family” to stack defensive Power on the vanguard. The deck also generates card advantage easily, so it will be difficult to break through their defenses.
