As mentioned, these Stride decksets will focus on two integral vanguards of the G era: Shiranui “Oboro” and Luard! These cards are used by brothers Kazumi Onimaru and Kazuma Shouji respectively, and they were a mainstay in the G era! Now, they enter the Standard format to assert their dominance!

These cards retain their abilities from the G era, allowing you to continue using cards printed during that time in your current Standard decks! While these cards remain the same, their allies have evolved to suit the current Standard landscape, gaining new abilities to aid their vanguards better!

Stealth Dragon, Madoi, Stealth Dragon, Seizui, Demon Stealth Dragon, Shiranui “Oboro” (Crest), Stealth Dragon, Genkai and Demon Stealth Dragon, Shiranui “Oboro”

Strike terror into your opponents with the menacing “Demon Stealth Dragon, Shiranui “Oboro””! Shiranui “Oboro” (and its G units) employ the Dominate mechanic, which allows you to take control of an enemy unit to attack its allies! When Stride upon, this card Dominates and strengthens an enemy ally to attack your opponent’s other units! Additionally, Shiranui “Oboro” calls a card from your opponent’s drop to the field at the start of your ride phase, allowing you to guarantee a target for your Dominate effects!

For the ride line, you’ll have to rely on “Stealth Dragon, Seizui” and “Stealth Dragon, Genkai”! When Seizui is placed by riding over Madoi, you draw a card and gain Shiranui “Oboro”’s Crest! This Crest enables you to perform Stride in the Standard format, sets your Shiranui “Oboro” vanguard’s Power to 13000, and enhances your front row with scaling Power for every face up card in your G zone during your turn! Additionally, enemy units called or dominated by your abilities during your turn lose their CONT and AUTO abilities, but gain extra Power instead!

When Genkai is rode upon by Shiranui “Oboro”, it calls itself to the field, Soul-Charges 1, and calls a card from your opponent’s drop to the field, setting up for your Dominate effects! Genkai also enhances the attacks of dominated units whilst gaining Boost, freeing up your front row for other impactful attackers!

World-shaper Stealth Rogue, Shojodoji

Many players have opted to rely on “World-shaper Stealth Rogue, Shojodoji” as their ride line grade 2 over Genkai, due to the immense benefits it brings upon entering the field! When ridden, grade 2 Shojodoji reveals two Stealth cards from the top five cards of your deck, puts one of them into soul and calls the other to the field! The ability to find and call important Stealth cards like Forktail or Izasaou during the early game provides quick pressure that builds towards your potent Stride turns!

Enma Stealth Dragon, Maguntenbu and ‘Evil-eye Hades Emperor, Shiranui “Mukuro”

Shiranui “Oboro” employs game-changing Strides in the form of “Enma Stealth Dragon, Maguntenbu” and “Evil-eye Hades Emperor, Shiranui “Mukuro””! Maguntenbu Stands and Dominates an enemy rear-guard to attack an enemy! At the end of the battle, the dominated rear-guard is retired, preventing your opponent from using it! Maguntenbu is the first Stride option you go into to establish your presence before Striding into Shiranui “Mukuro”!

To Stride into Shiranui “Mukuro”, you’ll need to discard a copy of Shiranui “Oboro” for its Stride cost and meet its Generation Break requirements. Shiranui “Mukuro”’s ability Dominates an enemy rear-guard that attacks its vanguard! After that battle ends, it Dominates your opponent’s vanguard, which attacks an enemy rear-guard! In the process of Dominating your opponent’s vanguard, you also perform drive checks! Combined with other supporting rear-guards, Shiranui “Mukuro” is a deadly finisher that no one should underestimate.

Stealth Dragon, Sekiei, Stealth Dragon, Fuurai, Stealth Beast, Katarigitsune and Stealth Dragon, Tenrei

Included in the deckset are crucial attackers like “Stealth Dragon, Sekiei” and “Stealth Dragon, Fuurai”! If a unit dominated by you attacked this turn, both cards Stand again when your vanguard attacks! Sekiei gains additional Power and draws a card if your G zone has two or more face up cards, whilst Fuurai gains scaling Power for each time a unit dominated by you attacked this turn! With these cards, you’ll decimate any opponent with a barrage of attacks from all angles!

On the other hand, “Stealth Beast, Katarigitsune” and “Stealth Dragon, Tenrei” offer great utility to the deck in a variety of ways! Katarigitsune can be discarded from hand as a grade 3 when Striding; if you have the Shiranui “Oboro” Crest, it can be discarded from hand during your main phase to add a card with “Demon Stealth Dragon, Shiranui” in its card name from your deck or drop to hand! This will prove useful in setting up for your Shiranui “Mukuro” push turns! When called while you have the Shiranui “Oboro” Crest, Tenrei draws a card! When the attack of a unit dominated by you hits, Tenrei can be bounced into hand! With multiple Dominate activations during your turn, reuse Tenrei’s on-place ability repeatedly to build card advantage! The deck doesn’t rely heavily on Counter-Blast, so you can afford to resolve Tenrei’s draw ability without worry!

Vairina Esperaridea, Pealing Dragon, Bliorvis, Stealth Fiend, Forktail and Stealth Fiend, Izasaou

A card that stands out in the Shiranui deck is “Vairina Esperaridea”! As a restander, Vairina Esperaridea may seem less appealing compared to Fuurai and Sekiei due to its lack of Shield and high Grade (preventing you from using it in the early game). However, in matchups where your opponent can clear their board to prevent you from Dominating their allies, Vairina Esperaridea allows the deck to maintain multi-attack pressure when combined with Crest power. It’s also searchable through “Forbidoll Surrogate” to ensure a consistent offense!

“Pealing Dragon, Bliorvis” is another great option for Shiranui! By calling it whilst your vanguard is grade 4, Bliorvis retires an enemy ally and gains Power! It can also be discarded from hand when riding to grade 3 from ride deck or Striding to draw a card, maintaining card advantage to prolong the game! There’s also the popular “Stealth Fiend, Forktail”, which puts a Stealth card or a card with the Glitter keyword from the top seven cards of your deck to soul – an especially important resource for cards like Shiranui “Mukuro”, Fuurai, Sekiei and Vairina Esperaridea!

An interesting option that some players have considered is “Stealth Fiend, Izasaou”! Upon entering the field while you have a Shojodoji vanguard, this card adds a Stealth normal unit from the top five cards of your deck to your hand! The main synergy for Izasaou is with your grade 2 Shojodoji in your ride deck. Use this to find important attackers like Fuurai or Sekiei to stabilize in the grade 2 game; alternatively, you can potentially add Sentinels like “Stealth Dragon, Utsuroi” to hand to ward off more aggressive decks!

Dragprince, Rute, Dragwizard, Knies, Dragheart, Luard (Crest), Dragwizard, Liafail and Dragheart, Luard

The famed sorcerer of United Sanctuary returns to the fray, ready for battle! “Dragheart, Luard” and its allies wield the Ritual mechanic: if you have a certain number of grade 1 cards in your drop, their Ritual abilities can be utilized! At the beginning of your ride phase, Luard can return two normal units in your drop to the bottom of your deck to allow you to perform Stride without paying for the Stride cost! When it is Stride upon, it also retires an ally to call two grade 1 or less cards from your deck! With the ability to recycle key units and search them out easily, Luard players can effectively tailor their deck around a few engine pieces and add more tech options for more pressing matchups!

Luard’s ride line is also very familiar to many, as “Dragwizard, Knies” and “Dragwizard, Liafall” make their comeback in the Standard format as well! By riding Knies over Rute, you draw a card and gain the “Dragheart, Luard” Crest! Like other Stride Crests, it gives the deck access to the G zone, changes the original power of any of your grade 3 Luard to 13000, including Heart cards, and gives your front row scaling Power as you flip your G units up in the G zone! At the end of your turn, if you Stride without paying the cost this turn, you can also return a Critical trigger in your drop to the bottom of your deck! This enables Luard to have lasting pressure throughout the game, with guaranteed lethality as each player’s deck runs thin!

When Liafall is rode upon by Luard, it Soul-Blasts 1 to draw a card! Then, if Ritual 3 is active when your grade 4 with ‘Luard’ in its card name is placed on the vanguard circle, Liafall calls itself from drop! This ability allows Luard to have a target to retire for its on-Stride ability, proving useful against decks that have board removal tools that can deny Luard’s board building!

Dragdriver, Luard and Dragstrider, Luard

As expected, Luard’s main strength lies in its Stride options: “Dragdriver, Luard” and “Dragstrider, Luard”! As the first Stride of the deck, Dragdriver’s Ritual 3 ability calls a card with the Ritual ability from your deck on-attack! With valuable attackers like “Solemn Clout Dragon”, “Dragwizard, Morfessa” and “Luminosity Wizard”, Dragdriver is a solid first option to establish your footing in the match.

Should you want to end the game with a bang, you ought to Stride into “Dragstrider, Luard”! When it attacks, if Generation Break 2 and Ritual 7 are active, and you have five or more units with the Ritual ability, Dragstrider gets extra Power and Critical. Then, you can retire two rear-guards and discard a Luard card from hand to give it another drive and prevent your opponent from calling grade 1 or greater cards from hand to the guardian circle for that battle! With such extensive ability requirements, players should mainly Stride Dragdriver for consistent board setup and offense and recycle Critical back to their deck. This is to bring the game state to a point where Dragstrider’s lethal blow is guaranteed!

Solemn Clout Dragon, Dragwizard, Morfessa, Dragwizard, Semias and Luminosity Wizard

Luard’s allies with the Ritual ability serve a variety of roles in the deck to bring it to the next level! Solemn Clout Dragon’s main purpose is to be a strong attacker that can also be discarded for Stride to draw a card! While Morfessa, like their past released versions, retains the prowess to generate multi-attacks by being able to call a card with the Ritual ability from deck to the field when attacking a vanguard! It also loses a grade while in the deck, so it too can be a searchable target by Luard’s on-Stride ability!

On the other hand, “Dragwizard, Semias” calls a card from the top three cards of your deck to the field when called to the field other than during the battle phase, allowing you to build your board effectively, it also gains Power to be a strong booster! Lastly, “Luminosity Wizard” gains Power when placed to serve as either an attacker or booster with Ritual 3 active; Then, when it is retired during your turn, you can choose to Soul-Charge 1, and then empower your vanguard!

Abyssal Owl, Painkiller Angel, Magic of Cycling Wind, Parryris and Knight of Excision, Diorruing

Another important grade 1 in the deck is “Abyssal Owl”! It can be discarded from hand during the main phase to add a Luard from deck or drop to hand, setting up for your Dragstrider kill turn! Additionally, its Ritual ability binds two copies of itself from drop to Counter-Charge 1 at the end of your turn, ensuring that you have sufficient resources to last till the late game.

For generic options, players have opted for cards like “Painkiller Angel” for its reliable card draw. They’ve also looked into tech cards like “Magic of Cycling Wind, Parryris” against multi-attack decks! When your vanguard is attacked during the fifth or more battle of that turn, Parryris binds itself from the field to prevent that attack from hitting! With decks like Shiranui, PR♥ISM and Lianorn, Parryris’ defensive capabilities allow Luard to further sustain into their late game to go for the win!

Another interesting option to consider is “Knight of Excision, Diorruing”! When placed while your vanguard has only one clan, Diorruing exchanges a card from your hand with another card with the same clan as your vanguard from your drop! With the Shadow Paladin “Dragsaver, Esras” Sentinel being available, you can effectively recycle your Sentinels from drop to beef up your defenses!
