“Wear Your Favorite Clan Campaign – Part 2” Interim Results
The second round of the “Wear Your Favorite Clan” Campaign is currently in full swing. The campaign was launched last Friday, and as of today, we have already received over 6,500 votes! Thank you everyone for your enthusiastic response!
Let’s take a look at the present standings shall we?
≪Bermuda Triangle≫ and ≪Pale Moon≫ have quite a huge lead in the poll. On the other hand, the fight for third place is rather tight with ≪Oracle Think Tank≫, ≪Shadow Paladin≫ and ≪Link Joker≫ jostling for the spot. This parallels the third place race that occurred in the first campaign with ≪Gear Chronicle≫ and ≪Aqua Force≫ as well! As we all know, ≪Gear Chronicle≫ ranked third in the end, but with the slightest of margins!

Were you expecting this result?
If the clan you are rooting for is not one of the current top 3 clans in this campaign, don’t fret! There is still one more week to rally the troops and make your favorite clan top the standings. As Yogi Berra would say, “It’s not over, till it’s over”!
Lastly, from today onwards, the real-time voting percentages will be made unknown and the final result will be revealed in next week’s column!
Happy voting and may you be able to wear your favorite clans soon!

Cardfight!! Vanguard Fan Meeting Q&A – Part 1
Pay close attention as we reveal part of the translated Questions and Answers (Q&A) from the Cardfight!! Vanguard Fan Meeting held in Japan last Saturday!
In one segment of the fan meeting, fans were allowed to ask the Bushiroad staff any burning questions they have. Everyone was really responsive and raised many good questions during the Q&A session!
Knowing that some of you might share similar questions, we have decided to include a translated summary of the Q&A session on our column! It’s too much to cover in one column, so we’ll be covering questions pertaining to the Card Game and Products first and the rest would be covered in our next column.
Check out Part 1 of the Q & A below!
Could you explain the policy on the inflation of card power?
There are many ways to control the TCG environment. For Cardfight!! Vanguard, we chose “card power up (inflation)” as our policy. Animations and illustrations are attractive ways to show off new cards, but we also see the importance of showing how strong the new cards are. This is especially so as Cardfight!! Vanguard was originally targeted at casual players. Therefore, we allowed power inflation to a certain degree to make the card strength easily understandable.
However, Cardfight!! Vanguard has been around for years, and there are also many players who have played it for a long time. We have introduced “revivals” to the game, in order to not make the old cards and decks obsolete due to power inflation. For example, “Cross Ride” with “Яeverse” cards was introduced in Link Joker series; units with the same card name but different abilities were introduced in VGE-BT15 “Infinite Rebirth”; “Revival Legion” was introduced in Legion Mate series; “Revival G unit” was introduced in “G Fighters Collection 2015”; as well as “Ride Chain” support etc. We are constantly putting in effort to control the environment so that the old cards can continue to appear in the new environment.
In the future, while developing new cards, we will continue to offer support and allow older cards to remain relevant alongside with the latest cards.
How do you make the decision on the additional rules on card usage?
In principle, we make the judgement based on the card usage rate during official tournament events. We pay close attention to ensure that our customers can have an enjoyable play environment.
There are cases that the ability is the same but the rarity is different. Why is it so?
Though there are cases such as “Perfect Guard” (Sentinel) having the same rarity throughout all clans, the rarities are determined based on the play test results. For example, even if the card abilities are the same, if the adoption rate is different in different clans due to the clan characteristics, the rarities assigned to the cards may be different.
After the old theme is strengthened, it became popular for players to stop at grade 2. If the old theme is over-strengthened, the new cards are thus not useful in the battle and it makes the fight boring.
We do not encourage the strategy of stopping at grade 2. For example, cards like “Air Elemental, Twitterun” (G-BT06) are created to counter it. In the future, while developing new cards, we will continue to offer support and allow older cards to remain relevant alongside with the latest cards.
I would like to request for reprints of OO.
Please do not reprint cards as it makes the value drops.
Regarding card reprints, we understand the perspectives from both sides, for and against the reprints. Both opinions are important. Decisions on future reprints will be carefully deliberated, including how the reprinted cards are included in the releases.
Please do not include “G Persona Blast” in GR.
Please increase the appearance rate of GR.
We have stopped having “G Persona Blast” cards with GR rarity from G-BT06 “Transcension of Blade & Blossom” onwards, except for products with special rarity ratios, such as Fighters Collections. We keep in mind to design cards with an ability that is usable even when only one copy is included in a deck.
Also starting from G-BT07 “Glorious Bravery of Radiant Sword”, the appearance rate of GR has increased. However, increasing the appearance rate alone will result in the decrease of the commercial value. We have adopted measures such as having different card finish, in order to preserve the commercial value while making the cards easier to obtain.
I would like to request each clan to be equally supported.
In principle, clans to be featured in product releases are mainly based on those that appear in the animations. Nonetheless, from Cardfight!! Vanguard G series onwards, we try to feature every clan in boosters at least once per year. In the future, we will continue to feature at least once for each clan every year in boosters in addition to Fighters Collections, so please look forward to future releases.
For the clans that are not used by any character in the animations, e.g. Chrono using ≪Nova Grappler≫, is it possible to make it appear in the animations and include in products?
As the animation continues, we will be introducing more charming characters using different clans, so please look forward to it. In addition to this, there are plans to include them in products with different forms from currently existing ones, such as Technical Boosters. Please be assured that cards which did not appear in the animations are also included in products.
I want to buy products directly from Bushiroad.
We have received similar requests; however, this would be difficult to implement for the sake of the card shops around the world. Though a small portion of related products are purchasable through our official online shop, we would like to keep the card shops as the main channel to purchase our card products.
How is the “Power +4000 and then retire” ability from ≪Great Nature≫ expressed in terms of flavor?
The units get a temporary power boost from their research, but is forced to leave the battlefield after that due to fatigue.
I hope Bushiroad can have a good solution to the cases of selling products before the official release dates.
We have the “official shop” system, and the official shops that can follow Bushiroad official release dates are awarded with official supports such as monthly tournament PRs and official shop-only products for sale, such as Fighters Collections. The “official shop” system is implemented to prevent such early releases. However, some shops may continue to sell products early even if their “official shop” title would be revoked, so it is hard for us to 100% eliminate such cases. Therefore, we would like to seek your help by refraining from purchasing our products from shops that have violated our regulations.
I want the shape of the box to be easier for card storage.
The current box design is not for card storage. Nonetheless, this idea is very interesting, and we may consider it for future products.
I have a question on card ability balance adjustment. For example, the G3 abilities of “Dragon Destroyer Battle Deity, Kamususanoo” and “Conquering Supreme Dragon, Dragonic Vanquisher “VOLTAGE”” (G-BT05) are different. What was considered for this adjustment?
Some cards have differences when compared individually, but we make adjustments based on the overall balance of the clans or decks. This accounts for some degree of the differences. However, there are also adjustments to avoid obviously bad impressions. In the case of “Dragon Destroyer Battle Deity, Kamususanoo” and “Conquering Supreme Dragon, Dragonic Vanquisher “VOLTAGE””, we have considered the differences of ≪Oracle Think Thank≫ and ≪Narukami≫, including the overall strategy of the deck, the quantity of cards used during a fight, the number of turns needed to win etc., and make their abilities suitable for those decks.
Regarding the card balance adjustment, we are looking to expand our development team in the future and handle the card development with great importance.
Though Cardfight!! Vanguard is said to target at casual players, do different clans have different target audience, i.e., some clans are more targeted at casual players and some other clans are more targeted at competitive players?
In terms of the policy, the clans that have appeared in animations are crafted for casual players to pick up easily. For example, the start deck “Knight of the Sun” on sale on April 22 was developed to allow beginners to have an easier time picking up the game.
I don’t think the current ≪Gold Paladin≫ is for beginners. With the creation of ≪Gold Paladin≫ start deck, what are the considerations in the development of ≪Gold Paladin≫?
In the start deck, the complicated abilities are reduced. In order to allow beginners to learn the card game “Cardfight!! Vanguard” itself first, the parts which beginners are likely to find difficult are also reduced. Moreover, players can still have a taste of ≪Gold Paladin≫ tactics while playing the start deck.
The key card from the ≪Gold Paladin≫ start deck is a reprint, and is not attractive to existing players.
The start deck is based on the deck used by Taiyou Asukawa in the animation. It contains the cards used by Taiyou, and was created to make for beginners who have just started learning about the card game or the animation fun.
That’s it for today! Keep your eyes peeled for next week’s column as we reveal the final results for the “Wear Your Favorite Clan”campaign and Part 2 of the Cardfight!! Vanguard Fan Meeting Q & A!
