We’re introducing new Counter-Heal card types in this set as well! If your vanguard’s grade is less than that of your opponent, these guardians gain +10 000 Shield for that battle! These cards have great value should you be going second (since your vanguard will have a grade lesser than that of your opponent’s until turn 3); against decks that use grade 4 vanguards (like Magnolia Elder) or have access to Stride (currently Chronojet), you can consistently access these abilities!

Bring on the heat with Nirvana’s new supporting cast! When ‘Strike Equip Dragon, Stragallio’ enters the field, you can add a card with the overDress ability or Trickstar from your deck to hand! Stragallio also revives a Trickstar from drop when it becomes an originalDress! This Prayer Dragon’s utility is not only seen in this iteration of Jheva, but also in the previous overDress-focused build of Mahar Nirvana!

There’s also ‘Pierce Equip Dragon, Halbados’, which can add a Vairina from the top five cards of your deck to your hand; it also recycles a Vairina in drop back to your deck to be reused later! Lastly, we have the crucial normal order ‘Clad in Prayer’. This card ties both overDress and XoverDress mechanics together: it gives an overDress unit the ability to Stand again when your vanguard attacks, and confers extra Power to your XoverDress unit! With Jheva’s ability to restand your XoverDress unit, you can easily achieve five deadly attacks (potentially six if you’re using Vairina Valiente!) to overwhelm your opponent!

Boasting formidable spirit, these dragons serve the Sealed Blaze Maiden with loyalty. Use ‘Sealed Blaze Dragon, Kaankshati’ to add an Arms card (like ‘Sealed Blaze Spear, Aadhitya’) from your deck or drop to your hand, and make it a stronger attacker by moving an equipped Arms card to your soul! On the other hand, ‘Seal-break Dragon’ can be used to reduce the Counter-Blast cost of your ‘Sealed Blaze Sword, Pritivih’ or ‘Sealed Blaze Gun, Chandra’ by 1! It’s also worth noting that this duo fuels soul for other cards, like Bavsargra herself!

Other Cards

Hunting Gatling of Dust Storm, Firas
Desolate Spark Dragon

Hunting Gatling of Dust Storm, Firas, and Desolate Spark Dragon

Firas is an interesting card for Eugene players to consider: it adds a grade 3 normal order (other than Regalis Pieces) from your deck to hand! Obviously, Firas’ effect is intended to target ‘Best Harvest’: a normal order introduced in D-BT03 that draws the player a card whenever an enemy rear-guard is retired during the main phase! After using Eugene’s ability to Rest Firas and retire an enemy rear-guard, Firas Stands again and gains Boost!

Another potent unit for some decks is ‘Desolate Spark Dragon’. When it attacks during the turn that you persona rode, Desolate Spark retires an enemy rear-guard, gains Power, and forces your opponent to bind three normal units in their drop! This card can be absolutely destructive against decks that rely on drop zone recursion! (like Nirvana, Zorga)

Diabolos, “Viamence” Bruce, Diabolos Knuckler, Jamil, Diabolos Striker, Greg, and Diabolos Girls, Trish

Decked out with brand new gear and abilities is the Demon King of the Deathly Gallows: ‘Diabolos, “Viamence” Bruce’! When your battle phase begins, this new Bruce gains “Final Rush” until your opponent’s next turn ends as long as all of your units have the “Diabolos” name! If your opponent’s vanguard is grade 3 or greater, enter the “Final Burst” state to truly attain peak performance! Bruce also Stands and empowers all of your “Diabolos” rear-guards in a column when it attacks while “Final Burst” is active.

Supporting this awakened Bruce are cards like ‘Diabolos Knuckler, Jamil’, ‘Diabolos Striker, Greg’ and ‘Diabolos Girls, Trish’. Jamil gains Power and Shield when Final Burst is active; when called to the field, it also Soul-Charges and calls a Diabolos ally from soul to the field! Greg provides essential Counter-Charge to the deck, while Trish gains extra Power and Shield for extra help on the offensive and defensive line!

Diabolos Madonna, Meagan, Diabolos Boys, Eden, Diabolos Madonna, Mabel, and Diabolos Girls, Stefanie

With ‘Final Rush’ made accessible from turn 3 onwards, you can consider cards like ‘Diabolos Madonna, Meagan’ and ‘Diabolos Boys, Eden’ as ideal rear-guard attackers! Meagan gains Power everytime it attacks; with Bruce’s restand, Meagan has the potential to hit ridiculous Power thresholds! Eden gains less Power, but gains a Critical when Stand by Bruce and retires an enemy rear-guard when its attack hits!

Onto boosters, ‘Diabolos Madonna, Mabel’ and ‘Diabolos Girls, Stefanie’ are more than ideal for the deck! Mabel’s ability to give your vanguard Triple Drive is extremely valuable, while Stefanie’s potential to raise your vanguard’s Power even during your opponent’s turn has its merits.

Diabolos Girls, Maimai (Critical) 4
Rouse Wildmaster, Riley (Draw) 3
Diabolos Girls, Arianna (Heal) 4
Hades Dragon Deity of Resentment, Gallmageheld (Over Trigger) 1

The Cardfighter Sophie Bell mesmerizes and captivates the hearts of other players while using the Almajestar ride line. By binding Critical triggers for Astroea=Unica’s ability, strengthen your vanguard’s attack to pierce through your opponent’s defenses!

Almajestar, Pypis=Mulchie, Almajestar, Schwart=Sparda, Almajestar, Turan=Dyna, and Almajestar, Astroea=Unica

The vanguard of the deck is the mysterious ‘Almajestar, Astroea=Unica’. When a trigger unit is Soul-Blast for the cost of Astroea’s ability, this vanguard can strengthen a unit. This ability can activate multiple times upon resolution of Astroea’s second ability: when it attacks a vanguard, you can Soul-Blast 3 to bind all Critical triggers Soul-Blast for this cost and perform additional effects for each Critical trigger in your bind zone! If you have one or more, you retire an enemy rear-guard; if you have two or more, Astroea gains a Critical; if you have three or more, it also gets an extra drive!

‘Almajestar, Turan=Dyna’ and ‘Almajestar, Schwart=Sparda’ help the deck to attain its goal of three Criticals in the bind zone. When Schwart is rode upon by Turan, you Soul-Charge 3, with the potential to draw a card if a Critical was Soul-Charge. As a rear-guard, Schwart binds a trigger unit in soul to get additional Power! On the other hand, when Dyna is rode upon by Astroea, it calls itself and Schwart from soul to the field, giving you access to their secondary rear-guard abilities. Dyna also sends two trigger units in drop to soul and gains Power!

Kitz Peak Griffin, Rollnick Cerberus, Alram Capricornus, and Steam Battler, Gungnram

A strong supporting cast to this deck would include cards like ‘Kitz Peak Griffin’, ‘Rollnick Cerberus’, ‘Alram Capricornus’ and ‘Steam Battler, Gungnram’. When placed, Kitz Peak puts two trigger units in drop into soul; it also gets extra Power and Shield as long as you have a Critical trigger in your bind zone! Rollnick effectively serves as another copy of Turan, moving two trigger units in drop to soul and gaining Power for one Counter-Blast. When boosting, Alram can either put a trigger unit from hand or drop into soul, and cycles a card if you put from hand! Lastly, Gungnram Soul-Charges when placed, and draws a card for Soul-Blast 3. With the amount of soul accumulated throughout the game, Gungnram will be important in generating card advantage.

Other Cards

‘Azul Wild Flame, Frenadle’ is an option for Baromagnes players to look into! When it attacks a vanguard, you can put another rear-guard to soul to put an enemy rear-guard to soul. If not, Frenadle gains additional Power! Before using Baromagnes’ ability, this could come in handy by removing annoying defenders on your opponent’s board.

‘Clean-sweep Dragon’ and ‘Steam Scara, Zargon’ are amazing generics for many Dark States decks. If you persona rode this turn, Clean-sweep can put up to three of your or your opponent’s rear-guards to soul. It then gains extra Power for each card chosen by this effect! Get rid of any resilient intercepting units on your opponent’s field with great ease! On the other hand, Zargon confers this ability to the unit it boosts: when its attack hits a vanguard, you can put two cards in your drop into soul! This recycles key offensive pieces in your drop back to soul or generates soul for your card effects.

Blue Deathster, Sora Period, Blue Deathster, “Dark Verdict” Findamis, Blue Deathster, “Heavenly Death Ray” Stelvane, and Blue Deathster, “Skyrender” Avantgarda

Destruction rains down as the imposing ‘Blue Deathster, “Skyrender” Avantgarda” imposes itself over the skies! If your soul has ‘Blue Deathster, Sora Period’, you can put a Strategy order from your order zone into your soul to draw a card and give this vanguard extra Power and an additional effect: After it attacked, if its attack hit a vanguard or you persona rode this turn, you can Stand this unit with drive -1!

‘Blue Deathster, “Dark Verdict” Findamis’ and ‘Blue Deathster, “Heavenly Death Ray” Stelvane’ share similar purposes: when they are rode upon by their higher grade counterpart while you have Sora Period in soul, you reveal a grade 1 or grade 2 Strategy card respectively from your deck and add it to hand. If you didn’t reveal, you can call them to the field instead. Filter out your essential Strategy early so that your offensive game plan will be made complete!

Disruption Strategy: Killshroud, Bomber Strategy: Dusting, Shock Strategy: Death Winds, and Blue Deathster, Sachsen Austuhl

Now, let’s dive into the Strategy cards that ensure Avantgarda can hit fast and hard! These Set orders activate their effects when they are put from the order zone into soul, occurring when Avantgarda’s ability is used. Strategy cards help to strengthen your vanguard attack while providing an additional effect; ‘Disruption Strategy: Killshroud’ can remove an enemy rear-guard, ‘Bomber Strategy: Dusting’ prevents your opponent from intercepting and playing blitz orders, and ‘Shock Strategy: Death Winds’ confers Power to all front row units whenever your vanguard attacks!

The defensive disruption of the Dusting Strategy is quite valued; that’s why it could be useful to include ‘Blue Deathster, Sachsen Austuhl’ in your deck! Call this rear-guard and Soul-Blast the grade 2 Strategy before adding it back to hand.

Operate Master, Freiheit, and Assault Flight Carrier, Lubetzal

One of the most impactful cards for Welstra and many other Brandt Gate decks is ‘Operate Master, Freiheit’! When it enters the field while your order zone has a set order, you can add a card with the same name as your vanguard or a Product card from your deck to your hand. Then, you can put a Product card from hand into your order zone if you have a ‘Welstra’ vanguard! Freiheit also operates a Product on-attack; with Freischütz Maximum and Welstra’s own Product operating, you can achieve five attacks against your opponent’s weakened vanguard!

Another strong Product to be considered is ‘Assault Flight Carrier, Lubetzal’! When it enters the order zone, you can draw a card and Soul-Charge 1! Lubetzal’s effect when operated also differs depending on the phase of your turn: if you operated it during your main phase, call a card with grade equal to or less than your vanguard’s grade from the top five cards of your deck; if you operated during your battle phase, draw a card instead!

Other Cards

For B-Hero players, you can look forward to ‘Galactic B-Hero, Bold Salos’! By discarding this card for the cost of your Base’s ability in your order zone, you can call this card to the field and put a ‘B-Hero’ card in your drop into your Base! Use this ability to effectively recycle B-Hero cards back into your Base to be called again! Bold Salos also gains Power if your order zone has two or more Bases, so it’ll definitely be a threat on the board!

Gravidia players could consider ‘Gravidia Claxton’ in their decks. When it boosts your ‘Nordlinger’ vanguard, you can give your vanguard the ability to gain an additional drive check if no trigger units were put into your trigger zone this turn! In situations where you’re not seeing your triggers, Claxton can be the card to help turn your offense around!

In terms of generic options, ‘Eahalten Vogel’ and ‘Enlightened Age Dragon’ are key considerations! When it enters the field, Eahalten Vogel can add a grade 3 set order from your deck or drop into hand! It also gets extra Power when your set order is put into your order zone. Currently, Avantgarda seems to have the most use for this, though decks like Eva (which has a grade 3 Research order) could benefit from this. As for Enlightened Age, if you persona rode this turn, you can add up to two unique set orders from your drop to hand! In decks that frequently remove set orders from the order zone for effects, the ability to gain access to said set orders again is nice to have.

By moving itself to soul, Rondahlia confers your vanguard the ability to give all grade 3 allies “Boost”! You can also move this card from soul to drop to give a grade 3 rear-guard “Boost” for the turn! When stacked against the preferred ‘Dark Strain Dragon’, Rondahlia requires less immediate resources, but forces the player to call another grade 3 unit when its first ability removes it from the field for board maximization. In the case of Delibere, it can add a ‘Bastion’ card from the top seven cards of your deck to hand when its attack or the attack it boosted hits! It’ll be a lot easier to find the ever-important ‘Apex-surpassing Sword, Bastion Prime’ to ensure a lethal offense by turn 4!

Resentments Dragon Counter-Charges and strengthens itself when called by a card’s ability; its simplicity in effect could lend credence to it being considered for Premium applications. Lastly, Reverence Rush can stack a grade 2 or greater card from your drop to the top of your deck! Noblesserose

Noblesserose

A Noblesserose token is a token unit that is generated by ‘Lavien Lord, Granfia’. It is called to the back row center rear-guard circle, and cannot be moved to other circles. It also puts additional effects into play if you have a Granfia vanguard!
Firstly, instead of placing Plant tokens by your card abilities, you put them as this unit’s plant gauge instead! Next, it gains incremental Power for each plant gauge attached to it, allowing it to be a strong booster for your vanguard attack. Lastly, when retiring rear-guards as cost, you can discard plant gauges from this unit if that cost can be paid by retiring Plant token rear-guards!

Holding dominion over the Stoicheia forests is ‘Lavien Lord, Granfia’. This vanguard converts all Plant tokens on your rear-guard circles into plant gauges; in their place is a Noblesserose token equipped with these gauges! After attacking with Granfia, you can discard up to five Noblesserose tokens or plant gauges to enhance a rear-guard; you also Stand that unit if you discard three or more cards! This deck readily achieves four attacks, two of which are significantly empowered with the essence of your Noblesserose token!

For the ride line, you have ‘Future Suzerain, Granfia’ and ‘Genius Wise Wolf, Granfia’. Grade 1 Granfia calls a Plant token to the field when rode upon by its grade 2 variant, setting up your field for rushing down opponents! As for grade 2 Granfia, it allows you to ride to Lavien Lord without discarding a card if you have a Plant token on the field, conserving your hand for future endeavors!

Ranran Orangerine, Farmin’ Pumpkin, and Burrow Mushrooms

Accompanying Granfia in the fight are its adorable but unwavering Dryad companions! All of them have the ability to call Plant tokens to the field: ‘Ranran Orangerine’ generates them on-place and at the beginning of the battle phase, while ‘Farmin’ Pumpkin’ and ‘Burrow Mushrooms’ can call up to two Plants during the main phase! These cards serve dual purposes for the deck; maintain early game aggression before grade 3, and fuel Plant gauge for your Noblesserose token on your finishing turn on Lavien Lord!

Sylvan Horned Beast, Goildoat, and ‘Sylvan Horned Beast, Winnsapooh

‘Sylvan Horned Beast, Goildoat’ and ‘Sylvan Horned Beast, Winnsapooh’ are great options for your Magnolia deck! When your ‘Magnolia’ vanguard is placed during your ride phase, Goildoat can move itself from drop to soul to enhance your vanguard! When used together with Magnolia Elder’s on-place ability, you can call out Goildoat from soul and make use of its second ability! When attacking from the back row, it gains additional Power; if it is in the center column, it retires itself after attacking to draw a card! Generating multi-attacks and card advantage has never been easier!

In the case of Winnsapooh, if you have a grade 2 or greater ‘Sylvan Horned Beast’ vanguard, it loses a grade in deck or hand! This makes it easier for you to call it down early in the fight for pure aggression! Winnsapooh also gains Power if your ‘Magnolia’ vanguard was placed during your turn, becoming a huge annoyance for your opponent!

Tear Knight, Erianthe, and Tide Line Dragon

Flagburg players could look into using ‘Tear Knight, Erianthe’; it calls a grade 3 or less card in your drop and strengthens it! This could be useful in recalling your Inlet Pulse copies in drop for multi-attack purposes and card advantage!

There’s also ‘Tide Line Dragon’ that gives another unit and itself a huge Power boost if you activated Persona Ride this turn! In decks that restand allies like Flagburg and Maelstrom, the additional Power can be utilized well on multiple waves of attacks!

Last but not least, we get to the boss unit of the mysterious Cardfighter Jinki Mukae: the colossal abomination Griphogila! This vanguard does not pledge its allegiance to any nation; thus, you can use cards from the Six Nations to bring out Griphogila’s ancient power! As you unleash Calamity upon Calamity, you will surely awaken Griphogila’s full wrath that obliterates all!

Griphosid, Dragontree of Ecliptic Decimation, Griphogila, Looming Demise, Minacious Metamorphosis, and The Start of the End

When using Griphogila, you have to use the unique First Vanguard Griphosid; it enables you to run Griphosid, three Calamity cards and an OverTrigger in your ride deck! When your ride phase begins, you can put a Calamity card in your ride deck to soul. When all three Calamities are attained, you can return them to your ride deck face up to ride a Griphogilia from hand or deck! You also generate two Dragontree markers that can be placed on your rear-guard circles! (These markers give +5000 Power to the unit on that circle, provided you have a Dragontree or a Masques vanguard.) While this means that you’ll be stuck on grade 0 for three turns before riding Griphogila, Griphosid also gains Power for each unique Calamity card in soul to weather attacks from enemies.

Once you ride into ‘Dragontree of Ecliptic Decimation, Griphogila’, it’s all but a ticking time bomb till your opponent faces ultimate destruction. This grade 10 vanguard gains +5000 Power for each Dragontree marker you possess, and gains an extra Critical if you have three or more! When Griphogila attacks, you can remove a Calamity card from your ride deck. If you remove all three Calamities, you can reveal an OverTrigger in your ride deck, activate all of its trigger effects and additional effects, and Stand all rear-guards with a Dragontree marker on their rear-guard circles! Should you be able to survive up to this point (turn 6), your opponent will surely be unable to deal with the terrifying wave of attacks empowered by your OverTrigger and Dragontree markers!

In Premium, players have considered using Griphogila together with the Astral Poets of Genesis. By utilizing Valkerion’s ability to gain drives from a selected card from the top five cards of your deck, you can potentially give it 10 drives right off the bat. With ‘Origin Deity of Heavenly Light, Uranus’ that can restand Valkerion again, you’ll be able to achieve a total of 15 drives just from Valkerion!

Dragontree Wretch, Draco Batical, Dragontree Wretch, Demon Sheridder, Dragonic Wretch, Lloyd Akzeriyuth, Dragontree Wretch, Solda Saakah, and Dragontree Wretch, Bist Aiyatvas

As Griphogila enters Cray’s stratosphere, it sends its Hydragrum minions to infiltrate the nations! These heralds coax Cray’s inhabitants into accepting the power of the Dragontree; who knows what their plan is for the world?

All of these cards share a common ability: when placed, they generate a Dragontree marker! With Griphogila as your vanguard, accumulate Dragontree markers on your field to form up a formidable offense!

Next, let’s look at each of their individual abilities that aid their nation. When an enemy rear-guard is retired during your main phase, Draco Batical calls a grade 1 or less card from the top five cards of your deck to the field; use this in retire-heavy decks like Eugene and Bavsargra for easy board building! Demon Sheridder calls a grade 1 or less card from soul to the same column; reuse the abilities of your allies moved to soul.

When your set order played from hand is placed into the order zone, Lloyd Akzeriyuth calls a card with grade equal to or less than your vanguard’s from the top five cards of your deck – for Eva, this can be used to call Obscudeid copies from your deck to activate on-place abilities! While in the back row, Solda Saakah draws a card when your other unit in the same column is placed! Lastly, Bist Aiyatvas can fetch a normal order in your drop back to hand; decks that rely on orders (especially Zorga) will value this!

Conclusion

The Dragontree has landed on Cray. It has made its presence known to all. Some inhabitants of this world have begun to rise up against this unknown being; others are waiting to see what this event has in store for them. What will be your response to this new threat to the world of Vanguard? It’s time to make your choice on March 31st.
